battery fails to maintain a charge

Purchased this item about 3 months ago (Oct 2010). The USB adapter (AC-2-USB or auto-2-USB) seems to work fine, but the 1000 mAh battery fails to keep it's charge more than 30 minutes. It takes roughly 3-5 hrs for the battery to charge to where the indicator reads full, but once disconnected from the power source it seems to discharge on it's own even with no load attached.

I bought this device for the 'emergency' battery capability for when I'm not near a power source and my phone needs a charge. The interchangeable AC and Auto adapters are nice, but the battery appears to be junk.

I'm contacting Macally to see if they'll honor their 1 Year Warranty on the unit and RMA it for a replacement. If they stand behind their product and all I had was a faulty unit then I'll come back and change the rating on the product. If not, well the rating stays and buyers beware.
